NEW TRAINING MODELS TO INNOVATE EUROPEANARCHAEOLOGY. THE CHALLENGE OF PUBLIC ARCHAEOLOGY

During the last two years, Innovarch has experimented with new approaches aiming to introduce public archaeology training in European Higher education from a transdisciplinary approach. The aim of this round table is not only to share the abovementioned results of the project, but also to propose an in-depth discussion of some of the issues that have arisen along the project development:
(1) Has Public Archaeology to be considered a specific training and research field or public archaeological aims and procedures (i.e. trasndisciplinarity) should permeate contemporary archaeological practice as a whole?
(2) How can the strong local nature of the projects and activities in the field of European public archaeology benefit from a transnational comparative perspective, both regarding practice, research and training and viceversa?
(3) Which changes are necessary to be introduced in academic research and training organization to create structured collaboration frameworks with non-academic colleagues, stakeholders and citizens?
(4) Which areas of expertise and practice does Public Archaeology share with the concept of Applied Archaeology?
